In the Subway
I didn’t know what to do with myself so I went into the subway, descended the stairs into the guts of the city to listen to its movement. I sat on a plastic bench on the platform and watched the trains run by, the countless number of people getting in and out on their way to somewhere else; everyone traveling except me. A sense of urgency and a touch of temporary all around, and I could not help the feeling of being stuck overtaking me; but I suppose that was nothing new.
